That’s right, I believe in and love (red) lipstick. There is a postcard from Kate Spade that hangs above a vase full of lipsticks at my desk that reads:
“how many shades of red lipstick do you need?” they asked.
she said, “that question is complex and intriguing.”
THIS IS EVERYTHING. You will never find me without a lippy of some sort. Even on a long run, I have a designated “workout” lip balm from AmorePacific.
For the Love of Lipstick
My first lippy obsession was easily a Lancome Juicy Tube lip gloss in Simmer. It smelt just like Fruity Pebbles! I then graduated to Giorgio Armani lip glosses that have since been discontinued. I distinctly remember rifling through the GA tester boxes when I first started working in Cosmetics at Neiman Marcus trying to snag any glosses in my favorite pinky beige nude color. NARS Viridiana Semi Matte Lipstick was my first lipstick love. And now, I am on the constant hunt for the perfect formula + staying power.
Lipstick Swap
A few weeks ago, I got an email newsletter from Emmasthing.com that simply made my heart smile. Emma is a bold Texan gal that is often rocking a bold lippy. The moment she rounded up her favorite shades, I knew she was good peeps.
I immediately felt compelled to email Emma back with my favorites! Granted, my lipstick collection (aka HOARDING) has everything from Revlon to Tom Ford and a variety of formulations (gloss, stain, etc.). Remember, I had access to countless lipstick testers for nearly three years so my obsession with lipstick was certainly perpetuated. With that said, I still have no problem PAYING for lipsticks with staying power because I am ultimately a lazy lip lover.

The most recommended lipstick I wear is Sephora cream lip stains in Always Red or Strawberry Kissed. These long-lasting lippies are ONLY $14!!!!! Don’t just take my word for it, Refinery29 called this stain a Makeup Unicorn.
My girlfriend Allison turned me onto Bite Matte Lip Crayons and I will be forever grateful. I wore Rosehip today and my co-worker was amazed at the high pigment and wearability. The crayon allows you to skip the lip liner and pack a bold punch!
