All of the Lights

After moving in, I made a few updates with lighting, and it was purely for function. Let there be light! I added a high hat in the stairwell and swapped the ugly track lighting in the living room above the couch for three high hats.

During Black Friday, I was doing some #adulting and shopping for deals and steals on light fixtures and fans. I waited until after the Holidays to install them all and do a big light swap.

Dining Room

The chandelier in the dining room is the same as in our clubhouse gym. It wasn’t terrible, but it was a reminder of being Builder Grade basic. This light fixture is one of the most compliment pieces in my home. My WFH setup features this lighting in my Zoom backgrounds, so it’s frequently on display.

Dining Room

Half Bathroom

This half-bathroom is right off of the dining room on the first floor. Naturally, I picked a vanity light from the same style as the dining room so these two adjacent rooms would have similarities. This milk light-style fixture continues into the fan in the living room (featured below). Later on, I also took advantage of removing the Builder Grade mirror, replacing it with a modern round mirror, and repainting and texturing the wall. The painting in the bathroom was a textured Cheesecake Factory vibe, and I simplified things with tissue paper as the texture and soft, neutral paint color. You may have heard of it – Agreeable Gray from Sherwin Wiliams. I also changed the faucet, coordinating bathroom hardware (towel ring and toilet paper), and cabinet hardware to match the brass lighting fixtures.

Living Room and Bedrooms

If I find something I love, I have no problem at all buying it in any and all colors. The living room fan is the same as the brass color or the neutral white fans I put in the bedrooms upstairs. The Hunter fans are the cutest style and the perfect replacement or addition. The bedrooms only had fans, and no lighting, so this is a great upgrade. The bedrooms already had ceiling medallions, and they added a special touch to the bedrooms.

Guest Bathroom

This glow-up involved both lighting and removing the Builder-Grade bathroom mirror. The simple upgrade of the mirror and farmhouse-style vanity lighting was a simple refresh to the Guest Bathroom. I tried a few mirrors for this space but ended up with a Hearth & Hand round mirror with a wood tone similar to the cabinetry.

Upstairs Hallway

Boob light, BE GONE! I went with a Sputnik light to add a bit of funk to the upstairs hallway between the guest and primary bedrooms. The laundry closet is in this hallway (on the right), so having pretty lighting in an otherwise mundane space is nice. I also love the Texas gallery wall I added using all Project 62 line frames.

I hope this round-up of lighting upgrades within my home inspires you to ditch the boob light or swap out a fan! These tiny changes have made a substantial impact on the love I have for my home. It’s more of a reflection of my style and aesthetic. Happy shopping and remodeling!
