Sleeping Beauty Aids

I was first introduced into the beauty of overnight skin care treatments by the ultra-luxurious La Prairie Cellular Power Charge Night. The results were amazing, but the $500+ price tag was not something I could maintain in my wildest dreams. Thankfully, the K-Beauty craze has made sleep masks and treatments something of a skin-care obsession. I am indeed a fan of working smarter, not harder. Adding a few extra steps into my night routine is worth the effort if I can say goodbye to dullness and wake up with revived skin!

Before diving into product recommendations, let’s talk about a Sleeping Beauty treatment plan:

  • Step 1: Treatment Serum
  • Step 2: Oil
  • Step 3: Eye Cream
  • Step 4: Moisturizer

Step 1: Treatment Serum

Beautycounter Overnight Resurfacing Peel

This peel combines 15 botanically-derived acids (both resurfacing and soothing) to deliver glowing skin without irritation or over-drying. I was at dinner with my friend Amy, and she graciously sampled me on a week’s worth of this peel. I was thrilled with the results, so I bought a full bottle for myself. I have previously tried the Drunk Elephant T.L.C. Framboos™ Glycolic Night Serum from Sephora in the NightBright™ Duo sampler but this Beautycounter ‘No Peel Peel’ gave me overnight results for a fraction of the price!

How to use ‘THE NO PEEL PEEL’
1. Apply 1-2 pumps to clean face and neck 3-4 times per week as a leave-on treatment.
2. Allow product to absorb completely (3-5 minutes) and follow with a moisturizer.
3. Leave on overnight, follow your morning skincare routine as usual.

Step 2: Oil

Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Concentrate

Be sure to layer in restorative oils into your nighttime routine if you use retinol or other drying anti-aging or anti-acne treatments. I have one of these in my medicine cabinet and another always in my toiletry bag. This nighttime oil that hydrates and visibly restores all skin types. I have given it to as a gift for beauty newbies, and it becomes one of their favorites! During the holidays, Kiehl’s will release a value size bottle that is worth the investment.

I would also recommend Sunday Riley Luna Sleeping Night Oil if you are in need of more than hydration and targeting wrinkles, redness, and pores with retinol.

Step 3: Eye Cream

Amorepacific FUTURE RESPONSE Age Defense Dual Eye Creme

I love that this product comes with an AM/PM treatment. Eye creams are my favorite skin care item, and this one has been my go-to for the past four years. You’ll also notice that brands with effective treatment peels or serums will often pair an eye cream (Kiehl’s, Estee Lauder, etc.).

Step 4: Moisturizer

Amorepacific MOISTURE BOUND Sleeping Recovery Mask

In place of a moisturizer, you may apply this mask and let it sit for five minutes before going to sleep. Whenever traveling a long distance (Europe or California), I make it a point to put this mask on to replenishing moisture and help accelerate skin turnover cycle. This is a year-round and travel must product.

In the fall and winter months, I default to using Korres Wild Rose + Vitamin C Advanced Brightening Sleeping Facial for a brightening boost.

In summary, bear in mind that I have used each of the products mentioned here. By no means are they the only Sleeping Beauty Aids out there but I sure hope that my recommendations will help you navigate the beauty aisles! Sample, talk to your facialist and mix’n’match items until you find the right fit for you. Good night and here’s to a beautiful morning!
