week of 10/1: rose & thorn

It’s October already. How did that happen?! This is already the fourth installment of reflection of that week’s highs and lows.

Rose.

Last night I caught the last show on Jack Johnson‘s North American tour. I have waited a long time to check this concert off my bucket list. In college, I was obsessed with Jack Johnson, John Mayer, and Jason Mraz. I am almost positive that my bestie Stacy still has the burnt cd I titled, “for the love of j’s.” I would be able to complete the “for the love of j’s” concert tour if I can make it to a JMraz show (looks like 10/14 in San Diego is my last opportunity) before the end of the year. Luckily, I caught John Mayer this past August.

About last night, his set gave a backyard campfire jam session vibe. There were lights made of recycled plastic strung above the pit. My friend Michelle nailed it when she compared Jack to Beca Mitchel in Pitch Perfect. He flawlessly mashed up Tom Petty classics with his own songs. It was just a fun and dreamy concert to share with good pals. A total rose for the week.

Thorn.

This excerpt from a USA Today post by Christian Schneider perfectly summarizes this week’s thorn.

On a more somber note, there’s no better time to tell someone you appreciate them, as you never know when you will see them again. Whether by natural disaster or deranged gunman, America has recently been reminded how abruptly life can be cut short. Presumably, there are a lot of people wishing they had one more chance to tell someone they loved them before the tragic concert in Las Vegas last Sunday night.

I appreciate you for following and sharing your own rose & thorn of the week. Let’s make it a point to have all intentions to bring some good to the world.
