a hairy situation

Dear Cyber World, let’s be real for a hot second. Between workouts, work, social life and the love of sleep, this Sassy girl does not have time to blow out her hair every dang day. Often times I have had coworkers comment on my “chameleon” style since I never have the same hairdo. Little do they know (or have failed to realize)  is that I follow a schedule pretty religiously. Lucky for you, I’m sharing my hair-apy secrets from product faves, hair styling weapons, and secrets to maintaining my look(s) & sanity.

DAY ONE: The Blowout

I try to start the week off with a fresh blowout on a Monday morning. You know the #MondayMotivation meme – “Never Miss a Monday.” Well, Monday morning is the perfect excuse to have a great & sweaty morning workout to set the tone for the week because I know a blowout is inevitable.

To achieve a sleek ‘do with volume, I am a fan of Kristin Ess and L’oreal Ever Pure shampoos and conditioners. I prime my wet hair for styling with Bumble & Bumble and pump up the volume with Oribe Volumista. I have been a loyal T3 hair dryer user for over 10 years now and not only is it lightweight but it comes with a round brush #winning.

DAY TWO: Beachy Waves

2nd-day hair is easily my favorite hairstyle. Dry shampoo and a curling tool can do wonders! I like being able to throw in a wave and change my look completely. I am still trying to perfect the long-lasting curl but that just ensures that every ‘do is unique! For a how-to tutorial, I will direct you to the hair experts at T3.

DAY THREE: Up, Up & Away

By Hump Day, I’m ready to toss my hair up, put on some gangsta rap, and own charge. Accessorizing with fun hair ties or clips is half of the fun of Day Three’s hairstyle.  I’ll either rock a ponytail, messy bun or if I am lucky enough – BRAIDS. My Master Braider Jen has spoiled me rotten with the best braids (as featured above) that I can’t manage to do myself. One day, I will learn but until then, I’ll always keep skinny hair elastics handy just in case.

And there you have it, the cycle will start over again on Thursday. This system has gotten me through marathon training rather effortlessly. Don’t be a slave to beauty but invest in the products and tools that will simplify your prep. Remember: Life’s too short to have boring hair.
