supper club: table setting

For that of you that may be new, a group of friends and I host a monthly supper club. We rotate to a new couple’s house each month and share a meal, lots of wine, and tons of laughs. It’s a great way to connect on a regular basis and some of us really love sticking to a theme and creating a dining experience. What I lack in culinary experience for a crowd, I make up for in my tablescape and wine.

Ever since working at Neiman Marcus, any table settings focal point will always ultimately be floral. My buddy John still creates breathtaking floral arrangements for many of the local NM events, you can find that inspiration on his Instagram: @jlfloralbocaraton. After deciding on a menu, I normally start with flowers and build out from there when planning my Supper Club tablescape. Here a few looks at the last few table settings.

French Country

My go-to place to dress up a table is Hobby Lobby. There’s always a coupon and a deal to be had. There’s one right around the corner from my office, so I can sneak out on my lunch hour. For this casual table setting, I really wanted to play up the Pottery Barn runner (similar) that I already had and still keep with my French Country vibes.

Summer Lovin’

Again, floral in different sized mason jars created the vibe for the table. Trader Joe’s is always a go-to for reasonable prices on great flowers. I normally buy them on Thursday and arrange them so any blooms can open by Saturday. I have a glass dining table, so I used craft paper to drape over and I used acrylic paint to decorate it with flowers, dots, and hearts. My supper clubs are very wine heavy, so keeping with the theme, I used wine bottles as candle holders with the trippy drip candles.

What’s on the Menu?

One of my favorite parts of planning my supper club is crafting the menu. The chicest way to wow guests is with a menu card. I was crafty and created a logo and everything. Aren’t you hungry now?

Pump Up the Jams

I am also a sucker for a good playlist. Oddly enough, Spotify has curated the greatest for a dinner party with friends, oldies to Top 40 to country, it has it all. Check out Dinner with Friends on Spotify (here) and thank me later. I find myself playing it often.

In closing, I hope you can find some joy in celebrating with friends and family the next time you host something. It doesn’t have to be a big ordeal, for me adding fresh flowers to the table is enough to elevate a dining experience. Keep it simple, and keep the food comin’!

Cheers, Sassy
