Tools for Your Beauty Arsenal

Beuty Arsenal

In the last few months of 2019, I was traveling a bit for both business and pleasure. That time away from home really made me realize that I depend on a few beauty gadgets and for damn good reason.

mirror, mirror

When I was still in Beauty at NM, the SimpleHuman Sensor mirrors were first released. I honestly didn’t get it at first. My mother has a small magnifying mirror stuck to the slider in the living room so she has natural light to put on makeup and (over)pluck her eyebrows. Once I realized that the SimpleHuman mirror was mimicking that exact scenario, a lightbulb went off. It is an investment piece, but after many searches, I ultimately bought a combo pack on eBay of the larger 8″ sensor mirror and smaller one for Bertha. The lady deserved to sit down at her vanity and tend to her beauty routine. I rely on that mirror to show me the following:

a) the ugly truths. yes, there is hair on your chinny, chin, chin!

b) never let me leave the house looking an over or under contoured mess or a clown face.

c) show me my makeup face in a different light (daylight, etc).

I realized in Vegas when I was in a hotel room without even a magnifying mirror that I really missed my reality check. If I were a real princess, I would sit at my beauty desk and peer into this mirror to put on my glam face.

hairy situation

Since I’ve started getting eyelash extensions last year, I have recently tried to get a monthly facial and derma planning session. In between sessions, I like to freshen up using the Tinkle facial razors. I enlist the help of the sensor mirrors and carefully defuzz any pesky spots. It’s a quick and easy Amazon purchase for a low tech facial treatment.

2nd-day hair tools

My blowout and hair curling regime is no mystery by now. I time it around my gym schedule and maximize a blowout to the fullest. I have used the T3 Whirl convertible iron for YEARS now, but I recently took advantage of a ULTA sale to add a curling iron into the mix. I recently had a haircut and it’s more blunt than usual, my curls are on fire with the tapered iron. But I have a versatility that if I wanted to tame my mane, I can curl it with a normal iron. The versatility in this tool makes it one of my favorite in the hair category.

blowout saviors

I have a high and end for the perfect blowout. I bought the Revlon One-Step Hair Dryer on Amazon Prime Day last year and it was the best tool to add to my beauty arsenal. It’s a simple item to pack when traveling and always leaves you with the perfect, bouncy blowout. It’s one of those items that you tell your BFF, hairdresser, and any stranger willing to hear about it. Trust me. I recently chopped my hair off, so I want the same volume but need a small comb. In comes the Dyson AirWrap. This was sold out throughout the holidays and the versatility with this tool is beyond fabulous. There is a bit of a learning curve, but the results are consistently awesome. I love that I can have a curly blowout with one tool.

bye, bye scars

God bless my eyelash guru for always looking out for me. During one of our sessions, Sayana was telling me about the dermapen microneedling treatment and how she used it to boost collagen production for a client’s scars. This was music to my years. After my surgery last year, I am left with a half a dozen scare across my belly. I’ve been guarding them from any sun exposure all summer long and rubbing all sorts of creams (silicone, BioOil) to help them fade. We tried the treatment a few times and ultimately, I bought a pen and different sets of microneedles to continue with treatments twice a week at home. I’ve been inconsistent recently, but the winter is the perfect time to get back into the routine before bikini season.

The right beauty tool can be a game-changer for your getting-ready routine. For me, it’s any tool that makes doing my hair, skin, and makeup easier. Trust me, I’ve put these tools to the test and you’ll wonder how you ever got through your routine without them.
