You may recall a recent post about “The Beauty of Peeling?” Well, let me tell you all about my experience with a Platelet- Rich-Plasma (PRP) Facial with microneedling. I am fortunate enough to work at the biostation where there is a focus on innovated health and wellness treatments.
Celeb-Favorite Anti-Aging Facial
Kim Kardashian got a blood facial with Dr. Gallo on an episode of Kourtney and Kim Take Miami back in 2013. I have been intrigued ever since the selfie queen posted a vampire facial pic. This anti-aging facial has evolved since and you may have noticed microneedling pen treatments available in-spa and at-home roller devices. Kourtney K., the most granola of the bunch, snapped her recent PRP + microneedling treatment over the summer. There are now several variations of the facial so let me explain each procedure.
Platelet-Rich-Plasma (PRP) treatment involves a simple blood draw to extract a nourishing plasma solution, containing growth factors and proteins. The PRP solution looks like “Liquid Gold.” It can be injected into areas of concerns to stimulate collagen production and smooth out wrinkles. PRP serves several purposes. Athletes have turned to PRP as a natural alternative to treat injuries and relieve joint pain.
Microneedling is also known as collagen induction therapy. The procedure involves the use of a pen with several tiny needles to punctures in the skin to stimulate collagen and elastin fibers. The microneedling helps to absorb product into the skin. Microneedling can be performed as a standalone procedure without PRP.
