• rainbow plant wall

I have admired the plant wall at the Grandview Public Market for years now. When I moved into my townhouse, I knew from the jump that I wanted to recreate it to some degree. At first, I tried with flowers, but they ended up being veerrrrry high maintenance on the water intake. You might say that I was too impatient to keep up.

After a number of trips and having to delegate water duties to friends or Madre, I knew it was time to consider a new plant. Although I loved the color that the impatiens brought to the space, I knew it wasn’t a reasonable plant for my lifestyle and I soon swapped them for the ZZ plant!

Same pots, new vibe. It would be six months until I would realize that these bulb plants would ultimate grow and bust my terra cotta pots. At one point during the pandemic, replacement terra cotta pots were impossible to find at a local hardware store. I recently found backups at Jo-Ann Fabrics and scored 6 backups, after I had gone through the exercise of splitting up bulbs and repotting the ZZ plants. But there was always something missing on the patio. I had the plant wall, all green. A herb garden tower, all green with basil, mint, and rosemary a plenty. A few succulents on the bistro table. So how oh how could I inject some color into this space of 50 shades of blush and greenery?

oh yeahhhh. This was the perfect mix of the greenery that met my green thumb needs and the pop of color that I’ve been longing for! That’s it. A remix to the existing plant wall had to happen. All I needed was a bit of acrylic paint and a sealant to make it happen since I already had the backup terra cotta pots.

    Must haves:

I was so jazzed to see the colors up against the wall that I simply placed the painted pots into the ring and then the potted plants into them. #lazychic

But I can you really blame me? This shizzzz is bananas! I love it. The pop of color is exactly what I wanted to spruce up the space. I’m totally gaga for this look and watch out, endless selfies are coming your way.
