• What’s Supp?

Following Girl Talk, I have made a conscious decision to take better care of myself and taking supplements are a part of that plan. My work wife, Cori, calls me the office pill popper because it seems like through the day I always have a packet of vitamins and probiotics to take. I have been a fan of Onnit and Pure Encapsulation supplements for years now, but I have come to a point where it was too many individual pills to stomach.

    The Current Situation

In the morning, I was taking the day packet of the Total Human Complete Supplement Packs. Total Human is setup to supply you with all of the essential vitamins and mineral needed to be totally optimized. I would proceed with making an iced bulletproof coffee (featured HERE) or green drink (recipe HERE) packed with collagen and MCT oil as part of my breakfast routine.

    Pill Count: 8

At lunch, I was taking yet another packet – Total Gut Health with Probiotics and Gundry MD’s Total Gut Restore. TGH has been one of my supplements of all time. I could feel a noticeable difference when I would skip a few days (even a weekend).

    Pill Count: 8

At dinner, I’d take the rest of the Total Gut Restore servings. Just before bed, I would take the evening pack of Total Human Complete Supplement Packs.

    Pill Count: 10

AHHHH! Can you even imagine taking 26 pills to supplement your health? I was really behind the idea of the Total Human packets replacing a multivitamin but dang, does one Flintstones chewable look appealing right now or what? I was talking to my buddy, Billy, recently and we were both exhausted of keeping up with it all and decided to take a moment to step back and prioritize what it is that we needed. If removing certain elements started to affect my body, I could add them back in as needed.

    The New Game Plan

A few weeks ago I listened to Ben Greenfield’s podcast at Billy’s suggestion. Give it a listen for yourself: Dangerous Probiotic Myths, The Probiotic Ben Greenfield Uses, Anti-Aging Effects Of Probiotics, Should Males Vs. Females Take Different Probiotics & Much More. As soon as I ran out of my Total Gut Health packets, I ordered the SEED Daily Synbiotic (probiotics + prebiotics) for systemic benefits beyond digestive health. Using Ben’s promo code, I save 15% off my first order. This will replace the 10 gut related pills and I love that there is a female and a male supplement.

    Pill Count: 2

After reading Beyond the Pill, Dr. Brighten suggested that a prenatal vitamin was the best supplement for a women post-pill to take to replenish important nutrients including folate, vitamin B2, B6, B12, vitamin C and E, magnesium, selenium, and zinc. I’ve been taking the Rainbow Light Prenatal vitamin that I scored on Amazon Prime Day. This isn’t a long term plan, but I am happy to have a multivitamin with a woman’s needs in mind.

    Pill Count: 1

A few weeks ago my mother uttered the worst sentence ever, “Honey, what’s happened to your hair you’ve got like none!” Ugh, knife in heart. I knew my hair was shedding like crazy but I was hoping it was simply shedding season. My thyroid levels had been normal the last time I had blood work done. What could it be? While I figure that out, I took a hair quiz on Nutrafol.com to identify a hair growth plan. The quiz takes minutes and reviews stress, lifestyle, gut, and hormone questions to identify what supplements can help. I started with my first 2 months of Nutrafol back in June and my custom plan included the Core Women + Stress Adapt + Digestive Enzyme combination. I LOVE the Stress Adapt targeted booster and take 2 tablets each night before bed. I truly think it has helped me sleep better. The digestive enzyme was sort of overkill since I had so many gut pills already and wasn’t really taking them religiously. Before reordering this month, I retook the quiz and was prescribed a different booster. This month’s shipment will include the DHT Inhibitor to aim for optimal healthy hair hormones. I’ve gotten good hair days compliments with just 2 months of taking these supplements, so I see no end in sight!

    Pill Count: 6-8

I’m be fully transitioned into the new supplement plan starting next week. I’ll keep you posted if I have any super big wins along the way. Is there anything that you’re taking now that makes the world of a difference?

    In good health, Sass
